Curb Cut Permits
Curb Cut Information
Only a registered contractor can apply for a curb cut permit. The total permit is a $200.00 fee. An inspection is required when the project has been formed and before the concrete is poured. A second inspection will be made after the concrete has been poured. Allow a reasonable amount of time before the inspection is needed. Contact the Engineering Department when the work has been completed. A final inspection will be made 30 days later (weather permitting). The site must be leveled and grass planted or sod laid.
Street Opening & Excavation Permits
Who can apply for a permit? It depends on the type of the permit.
To become a registered contractor working within the public right-of-way, you must be pre-approved by the City Engineering Department and pay an annual fee of $100.00 to be registered as an Excavator or Sewer & Drain Layer. A copy of your company's Certificate of Liability Insurance is to be placed on file, with a minimum coverage amount of $1 million. Registered contractors must provide an approved bond in the amount of $10,000.00 to the Engineering Department.
Street Excavation
If concrete is involved, a registered contractor must apply for the permit. The fee is $200.00. An inspection is required when the repair/replacement has been made and before the excavation is backfilled. If it is discovered that the excavation has been backfilled before the inspection can be made, the City reserves the right to have the contractor re-expose the work. Allow a reasonable amount of time before the inspection is needed. Contact the Engineering Department when the work has been completed. A final inspection will be made 30 days later (weather permitting). The site must be leveled and grass planted or sod laid.
Use of Right-of-Way Permits
When concrete is not involved, either the homeowner or a registered contractor can apply for the permit. The fee is $100.00. Sidewalk Permits
A sidewalk permit is required for any sidewalk installation/replacement on City property, and either the homeowner or the contractor can apply for the permit. The fee for a sidewalk permit is $10.00 per 15 Linear Foot. An inspection is required when the project has been formed and before the concrete is poured. A second inspection will be made after the concrete has been poured. Allow a reasonable amount of time before the inspection is needed. Contact the Engineering Department when the work has been completed. A final inspection will be made 30 days later (weather permitting). The site must be leveled and grass planted or sod laid.
