The City of Clinton owns the large majority of the Liberty Square area (between Camanche Avenue and Liberty Avenue). The area is ripe for commercial development.
In May of 2023, the University of Iowa, Iowa Initiative for Sustainable Communities, team of urban and regional planning, sustainable development goals, and environmental engineering graduate students created the Liberty Square District Master Plan with guidance from faculty and community partners.
