Community Development Department
The Community Development Department is committed to improving the quality of life in the City of Clinton by strengthening our neighborhoods through successful commercial and residential rehabilitation efforts, new housing construction, and home ownership.
The Community Development Department assists with long-range planning for the City, determines disposition of abandoned properties, submits grant applications and coordinates grant implementation (Community Development Block Grants, Brownfields Grants), and supervises the nuisance Code Enforcement team.
Nuisance/Code Enforcement
The purpose of Code Enforcement is to promote community awareness, encourage compliance of City Codes and foster civic pride in the community by providing essential requirements to safeguard public health, safety and general welfare through the regulation and enforcement of City Codes. Code Enforcement personnel respond to nuisance complaints, enforce zoning regulations, identify and address vacant and abandoned properties and dangerous buildings, and ensure basic property maintenance occurs in order to safeguard public health and welfare.
